- Mexico's government will pour billions of dollars into
a resort to be built on the Pacific coast, said to be the
largest sea resort in the world at a cost of $6.1 billion
USD. President Calderon has called on local and
foreign investors to participate. The location is to
be in either the Ixtapa or Huatulco area.
- Business centers are continuing to develop in Mexico as
Americans still favor Mexico as as their beach
desitination. Per Hotel Magazine, 44% of all Latin
American hotel development is in Mexico.
Currently the domestic Mexican market accounts for 40%
of the guests. The remaining 60% is made up of
various nationalities with strongest growth continuing
to be the American market.
In addition, Marriott, Holiday Inn, AMResorts and similar
brands are continuing to make a push into these
markets. Luxury brands are also bullish on Mexico and
continue to open new hotels and resorts.
